Tribute to Chief Robert Mauro & Moment of Silence
TRIBUTE TO CHIEF ROBERT MAURO Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet. Let it not be a death but completeness. Stand still, O Beautiful End, for a moment and say your last words in silence. MOMENT OF SILENCE Earlier this year Chief Robert Mauro of the Fairview Fire Department retired. We are sad to report that the Chief passed away today. Chief Mauro served the community for over 45 years, 33 years as Chief. Under Chief Mauro's watch the fire department expanded the mission of the Department to include emergency medical services at the basic life support level with specialized training in the administration of the EpiPen, the Mark-1 Kit, Albuterol, and QuickClot. Under his tutelage, the Fairview Fire Department began confined space technical rescue, and became skilled in WMD and HazMat response. The Chief was very active in all aspects of the community. He spoke out on issues at many Town Board meetings, successfully pushed for legislation to enhance the safety of residents and businesses and was very involved in the Greenburgh Neighborhood Health Center-which recently received a substantial federal stimulus grant to expand their center. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him and worked with him.
