MOMENT OF SILENCE In memory of Millie Rose Brown, mother of Sherrie Brown and mother-in-law of Supervisor Paul Feiner Supervisor Feiner remembers his mother-in-law as follows: Millie was not only my mother in law but also a very special person. She and her husband Phil were the first owners of one of the first condos built in Greenburgh in the 1960s--Westchester Hills and lived in N Elmsford for a number of years before moving out of Greenburgh. She made a very close group of friends there. She had the ability to keep friends because she was so enthusiastic about life, and was comforting and loyal. When Millie and Phil moved to Florida she worked for the Palm Beach County water utilities department for many years and was recognized for her outstanding service by her colleagues when she retired in her late seventies. Early on, we would compare notes about water rates, water issues in Florida and in Greenburgh. Millie loved traveling and cruises. My parents and my in-laws would join my wife and me taking some joint vacations to Europe and to other fun places. And my sisters family would also join us. She treated my four nieces like her own grandchildren: she was always interested in what they were doing. She loved Broadway and enjoyed acting, singing and dancing in community theater -- bringing smiles to people who observed her performances. Millie loved jazz and saw all the greats, like Miles Davis, Stan Getz and Dizzy Gillespie in NYC clubs like the Five Spot. Millie has been married for over 60 years to Phil and is the beloved mother of Michael & my wife Sherrie, and grandmother to our daughter Julia. Millie will be sorely missed, never forgotten.
