MOMENT OF SILENCE

In memory of Rev. Canon Percy A. Brathwaite, husband of Greenburgh Town Court Justice Delores Scott Brathwaite, Rev. Brathwaite was devoted to many years of leadership in the Episcopal Church as well as a longtime advocate and provider for individuals who lacked shelter, food and general welfare.  A mentor to youth as well as an advocate for education, Rev. Canon Brathwaite was also a Rotarian with the Rotary International and lived an exemplary life by the motto of “Service above self.”   

In memory of John D. Cristello, a retired long time employee of the Town of Greenburgh.  John, a dedicated and ardent team member on the staff, worked in the Maintenance Department at the Greenburgh Public Library for thirty-seven years.  John was active in the CSEA, the American Italian Club of Elmsford and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

In memory of Mary N. Shelton, a retired longtime employee at the Theodore D. Young Community Center (formerly, Fairview Greenburgh Community Center), Department of Community Resources, Town of Greenburgh where she served twenty-eight years in a full-time capacity and continued part-time, after her retirement. Highly regarded, loved and respected by the entire TDYCC community, she had a special devotion to the FAST Swim Team which she considered her “second family.”    

In memory of Lucia Veteran, wife of former Town Supervisory Anthony Veteran, was very active in the Democratic Party.  Highly regarded for her civic engagement, Lucia, along with her husband, was instrumental in garnering support in Westchester for the late Mario Cuomo during his first bid for New York State Governor.   

In memory of Eve Jean Weinstein, remembered for her vibrant energy, her boundless optimism, her love for social and civic engagement, her compassion, and her determination. She belonged to a long list of organizations and associations, including the Central Westchester Chapter of the Brandeis National Committee, the Havurah Group of Hastings and Dobbs Ferry and the Sinai Free Synagogue women's spirituality group, a Mah-jongg group, and a Zumba group that she continued to attend well into her third year after her illness. Eve was also a member of the League of Women's Voters and a former Head District Leader of the Hartsdale/Ardsley Greenburgh Democratic party. Prior to her three decades in the residential real estate industry, Eve taught history, English, economics and junior achievement at the Edgemont, Bronxville and Brooklyn Technical High Schools

          GOOD NEWS...The Town continues (since 2008) to have the highest possible bond rating from both Standard & Poors (AAA) and Moody's (Aaa). Less than 3% of communities in the nation have top ratings of financial stability.  Recently (10/06/2017), Moody's once again reaffirmed the Town's highest rating and on (10/10/17) Standard & Poors reaffirmed the Town's highest rating.
